Donald Stamets, Managing Director for Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort
The following is an excerpt from an announcement made by Omni Senior Vice President of Operations Ed Netzhammer this week:

'It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Donald Stamets to the managing director position at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort effective immediately.
Stamets, a nearly 25-year industry veteran, moves to Amelia Island from Laguna Niguel, California where he most recently served as general manager of the Island Hotel owned and operated by the Irvine Company. . . . Previously, Stamets was with The Ritz-Carlton Hotels, where he served as hotel manager for multiple properties, including The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach and The Ritz-Carlton South Beach. Prior to that, he held various executive positions at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes . . . and spearheaded a successful décor initiative focusing on destination management at the AAA Five Diamond Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. . . .'

AIPCA welcomes Donald as the new Managing Director for Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort. Donald will now serve as Omni's appointee to the AIPCA Board of Directors.

The Top 10 Scams Directed at Seniors: Tuesday, December 17, 3:00 p.m., POC Dining Room
Have you ever received an email from your bank requesting you to click a link to “verify your information” or your account may be suspended? Or has Amazon or PayPal sent you an “Important alert about your account” asking you to update your billing or other personal information? DON’T DO IT! Financial institutions will not send these requests via email. Considered the “crime of the 21st century,” financial scams targeted at seniors are becoming more and more common.

An informative session has been scheduled to alert AIPCA members about the latest techniques being used to fleece, con or otherwise illegally separate you and your loved ones from your money. Alan Barker, AIP Director of Security, will describe the most common scams, how to identify them and what to do if you think you have been the victim of one of these crimes. Chuck Sheehan, with Seniors vs. Crimes of Nassau County, will explain how this organization can help.

Reservations are not needed. For more information, contact Barbara Trapp at 904-491-0200 or barbaraAIPCA@gmail.com.

Walking Groups Hit the Trails
Are you ready to walk with your neighbors? The walking groups will meet as follows:

  • Mondays, 8:00 a.m., POC: Walk a mile on the marsh side of property
  • Wednesdays, 3:00 p.m., Beach access parking lot between Beachside and Spyglass Villas: Walk a mile on the beach

Only service dogs will be allowed. Rain cancels the walks. Walk one or both walks...your choice. Once you have signed up, it is not necessary to notify the group if you will join them or not. Please contact Carolyn Strunk at reynoldstrunk@bellsouth.net with your name, phone number and email address to sign up if you have not already.
